Affect of Diet on Acne

Does your diet have any affect on acne? If you took an opinion poll, on average, more than 90% of people would agree that there is some sort of affect of diet on acne. Although the majority of people agree in their belief that there is some affect of diet on acne, you will find a few (the minority) that believe no relationship exists between diet and acne. This minority claims that there is no affect of diet on acne.

Let me ask you, do you think eating junk food, or greasy foods, or those sweet chocolates have no affect on acne? What if I told you that there exists no such relationship between diet and acne?

Believe it or not, but there is no scientific data that exists to suggest that there is any affect of diet on acne. There is no research to substantiate the fact that there exists a link between diet and acne. What this means is that you can eat your pizza, french fries and candy bars without the fear of having an acne outburst. It is true, however, that acne is caused by excess secretion of oil by your sebaceous glands. Because of this, people infer that eating greasy foods will result in acne. So, there must be affect of diet on acne. There is a slight problem with this assumption, though. The oil secreted by the sebaceous glands is completely different from the oil that you take in your diet. So, there can be no relationship between the two.

What we have discussed thus far has nothing to do with acne triggers. It is true that there is no affect of diet on acne, but equally true is the fact that there are certain acne triggers that exist. Certain foods act as acne triggers for some people. In this case, it is advisable to avoid those foods. But in all other cases, there is no direct relationship between the food you eat and acne.

Does this mean you should continue eating greasy and oily foods? If you had to choose between acne and a heart attack, what would you choose? Even if there is no affect of diet on acne, you risk the possibility of experiencing heart disease if you don't eat healthy. Of course, this can cause serious problems. It is important to understand that if you eat healthy, your body will function properly. If you eat unhealthy, it will only be a matter of time before you start experiencing other problems.
